2026 is a wild time to be alive in the ole’ US of A. Our federal government is crumbling into techno-fascism and has cut almost all social, research, and welfare programs, our society appears to be de-evolving at a furious pace, and there are literal cage matches on the White House lawn.
But the stock market keeps rising so it’s all ok with the american right. They will follow the antichrist anywhere as long as he makes them feel good about themselves and can find someone else to blame for any perceived woes. That is why I always call them the “faux-christians”: they wear the cross but don’t practice what Jesus of Nazareth taught.
Immigrants, gays, blacks, scientists, students, doctors, africans, mexicans, haitians, women who believe they deserve to vote and the right to manage their own healthcare ….. all targets of Don Drumpf and his mentally-ill minions. Everyone they dislike are “liberals”, which appears to be the worst label of them all. As a white guy who’s none of the above, I am still targeted because I see this evil for what it is.
Protest if you want, as I have and will continue. But you can now be put on a list and be whisked away in an unmarked black SUV by unmarked men covered in black. No rights, no due process, no attorney. Look at the guys that protested ICE and just got something like 30 years behind bars. Trump’s trying to lock up and silence all that dare document his dirty deeds. Be careful out there. He stops at nothing to bully, attempting to crush all opposition with his unlimited bank account and unlimited indecency.
I subscribe to the original definition of the word woke. I have since I woke up as a little boy in a racially-mixed low-income neighborhood. We were talking about racial politics and racial behaviors amongst ourselves by the 2nd grade. We saw and understood the differences people experienced based on their skin tone or last name. I had white friends whose parents wouldn’t let them visit my house because of its proximity to non-whites. I also had black friends whose parents had never met a white kid who was allowed to sleep at their place.
I also remember policing before bodycams and cell phones. And it wasn’t just white vs black, it’s tribal at its core. I knew polish, italians, irish, croatians, serbians, and european jews that disliked other groups with the same skin tone. It was always very stupid to me. Diversity is a beautiful thing (as well as an old wooden ship). I’ve always thought that.
The term woke originally had nothing to do with gender or sex. It was slang for educating oneself about the african-american experience from the beginning to now. You either understood it (woke) or you were still sleeping. You either understood the nuances of hundreds of years of systematic racism and arguments for and against reparations, or you didn’t. You either understood 40 acres and a mule and its undelivered promise, or you chose to ignore it. We had these honest and sometimes painful talks as kids in elementary and middle school.
Then I somehow managed to graduate high school and got into college (more woke). A so-called “liberal arts college”. (Even more woke) Then I, gasp! studied African-American and Women’s studies by choice and became a funk DJ, and now I make my own politically-charged music from very blue cities, so yeah, I’m wide the fuck awake. I was educated by Gil Scott-Heron, Curtis Mayfield, The Last Poets, KRS-One, & Public Enemy, amongst others.
One of the sadder aspects of Trumpism is how so many of the poor old boomers are being taken for a ride. These folks went from spending their teens and 20’s protesting the Dept. of Defense and fighting passionately to end the Vietnam War, to now fully supporting the renamed Dept. of War. They spent their 30’s and 40’s going to midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, singing along in drag to Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania, and now they vote to remove and restrict any trans rights made available. They seem to believe you don’t need to pee away from your house if you are trans. They spent their 50’s digesting and hating the ill-advised war vs. Iraq, and now they stand behind an even less justified war vs. Iran, started and controlled by the singular whims of a madman. But he’s their madman, so they sold their souls down the river for defense and oil stocks.
This is why I don’t market my music. I can’t get to the point of just shilling for the product instead of explaining the artists context and mindset behind it.

On July 4th, the 250th birthday of this odd country, we released our 23nd collection of music titled All To Waste. It’s a full-length LP (our 10th depending on how you count) with over 50 minutes of new music featuring the most-excellent contributions of 7M and new vocal prowess from Winnie Rose on the first single “All To Waste”.
