Lebron’s Impact

The year Lebron left the Cavs the 1st time, they went from first to last place.

The year Lebron left the Cavs the 2nd time, they are going from first to last.

That’s the reality.

Last time he left, the Cavs collected something like 8 picks in the top 10 in 3 years, including 3 number 1’s.  Those picks became Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson, and ultimately Kevin Love. It prepared them for the return of the king.

They don’t have quite as many picks this time around, but they still haven’t started the sell-off yet. Starting with JR, there’s some value still on the Cleveland roster. Not much, but a good GM can turn that into high a few high picks.

Bottom line – Lebron is the best of his generation, and perhaps greater than Jordan based on size and passing. Not sure if he’s better than Jordan, but he’s close.

You can’t truly expect the Cavs to absorb the loss of the greatest player of his generation. They should suck for 2-3 years at least, but hopefully the young talent they have in Cedi and Sexton grow into something in a few years.
