Promises Kept

In case you missed it... my president did the right thing yet again.

Barrack Hussein Obama is being completely underestimated and ignored again. This man could be the finest US president in ages but he seems to still be struggling to escape the ditch the country was driven into by his predecessor. If unemployment stays high he will have trouble getting a second term. I notice Republican presidents always seem to pin economic troubles on the former regime but Democrats just take the blame no matter their role.

In foreign policy, Obama and Clinton have been outstanding. By considering the muslim extremists a criminal organization again (as opposed to the infidels on the wrong end of a holy war) Obama and the rest of the world has made huge progress fighting this menace since 2009. The Libyan revolution was a delicate balancing act that appears headed towards an acceptable outcome. And don't forget -- the boogie man was capped in the chest by our finest special forces, just as any true american leader would have managed to accomplish eight years ago.

Data Mining Your Past, Present, & Future

Lots of privacy-politics news lately: First off our good buddies at Facebook want even more information, and will happily put it on a timeline and sell it to the highest bidder for you.
tec
If you find this a little 'big-brother'ish, imagine if your car's position and status were constantly tracked and sent to the federal government computers, then sold to outside parties. This is what is happening now in the US when driving a GM with OnStar. In the name of safety you are being tracked even if you cancel the service, and by tracked I mean having your entire positioning and speed history stored in a permanent database and sold to the highest bidder. The government connection? GM is currently owned by the US Government as a result of the bailout a few years back.

Money Is Tight: Purchase Wisely

I'll give you a double dip recession, and trust me you'll feel better after!

Here's my question - why do "D"-Presidents like Obama and Clinton get blamed for the economy they inherited and then not receive credit for any changes they do enact? Yet GW Bush was able to take credit for the whole ride up the bubble and then leave the crash to be blamed on his successor.

I've always heard from Republicans that Democrats shun responsibility and expect things for free but I'm sorry, it's the opposite. Clinton balanced the budget. Clinton/Gore led a financial revolution for this country using high-tech american ingenuity. Almost everyone I knew in the 90's in America was doing better or had a path to better themselves. W Bush took this (using the supreme court to get him into office), sliced taxes for the wealthy, used a 30-year proxy war against a middle eastern crime syndicate to launch into ridiculous land wars we couldn't afford, pushed new home building and McMansion ownership over anything else (even though we have plenty of housing stock and apartment living is much more energy efficient), and pushed a decadent, wasteful, 'everything is bigger in Texas' mentality on this big gullable country.

It wasn't sustainable. Imagine! This word that Republicans don't care to understand just won't go away! The housing market collapsed, the SUV's need fuel and repairs (since no one is fixing the roads or bridges without tax revenue), and the average american keeps putting 40 gallons of fuel in their truck or truckish-car every week to drive their fat ass all over the suburbs even though the same 11 stores exist at every strip mall in america.

So there's this: The Flux-adel Store. Spend your money wisely people. Only support the brands that support you. You can eat, sleep, party, serve drinks, clean the house, and scare your neighbor in clothes like this.

Progress, Washington (Same Sentence?)

Obama just did this: More than doubled the required average fleet MPG by 2025 for US automakers.

Lots of info there ---basically each car company has a range of vehicles. Those vehicles all have a miles per gallon score. The entire company's fleet then has an average MPG. The federal government requires the average to hit a target, and this is how they press for innovation. This is the regulation that republicans dread.

Our past oil loving presidents held the required average in the 20's, leaving the market stagnant (way more SUV's sold than Prius'). Obama has now ratcheted up the standard twice since taking office. Automakers will have from 2012-2017 to meet the first set of standards, then 2017-2025 to reach this 56 MPG average. This might actually bring us a cleaner future, with SUV's getting 40 MPG and the rest of us getting 80+. Nice.

Note that this is for passenger cars and SUV's - pickup trucks (even light trucks) are not exempt but do have lower standards to meet.

Of course, GM and Chrysler are on board since they are still taking marching orders from Washington, but Ford, Honda, and Hyundai are reported to be supportive as well.

Don't let the news whores fool you - good work is getting done in Washington by this administration. Progressive, intelligent, actual strategic work is getting done, as opposed to the flashy, ignorant, sound-bite politics of the last administration. Don't be fooled by marketing and lowest common denominator politics when it comes time to vote.

Racist Much?

Black President. Mixed President. Liberal President. Smart President. There goes the neighborhood.

These right wing nutcases manage to cram just about every offensive racial stereotype possible into this actual political ad. This shows an attitude that embarrasses the hell out of me as an american, but usually this stuff is relegated to the private hillbilly media. These people actually put this up on youtube thinking it would help their candidate!

Good luck with that California. Frickin' insane. If I was the congresswoman in that ad I would run it on my own website, I'd even buy time for it to be put on TV.

Simplify If You Want, But Remain Accurate

Of course we are all talking about and adjusting to the big news of the day. 66 years to the day the last boogie man got his, Obama ordered the strike that most liberals have been waiting for.

I never wanted war with Iraq and I never wanted to pay for bringing Afghanistan closer to the 20th century. Just about every one of my friends who would identify as an american liberal believed the same. The raw emotions of 9/11, the fear marketing perfected by Karl Rove and Fox News, and the general ignorance of world affairs suffered by most americans led us into this delusion that we can declare a military war on what is in effect a criminal organization. You don't use marines to take out the mafia.

How many of You are there?

(by Fuckface Bookman, Associated Pruss) NORTHSIDE, RUSTOPIA - Can your numerous profiles, sensors, logins, switches, accounts, and buttons combine into a single entity? How long would you last if everything you did in a day went into this single profile, nothing more than a record in the relational database that is 21st century life?

Not long says Ezrazmus Jones, which is why he fears such constant connectivity. The connectivity can only rationally remain constant if we are allowed multiple personalities.

"I have many" says Ezrazmus 'Elemento' Jones (not his real name), "and it's a good thing. I can lurk, I can pull rank, I can drop my credentials, and I can hide them just as easily. Just like offline, you have no idea who you are dealing with unless you know me face to face in a real way. Asinine Intelligence will lead us astray."

Hmm, pseudo-interesting point. So add to the discussion here on World Have Yer Say by commenting on if/how you manage to live online as a single entity or if you go the iSchizo route to protect the innocents.

Note that this blog is eaten alive by google, yahoo and bing spiders so you are being recorded (technorati won't even take a nibble though!).

Spring has sprung!

So its been a long while i know
But much has been happening around me
Since i last opened my space
And your face to my reality

A new studio has sprung
Bigger harder stronger than the last one
The Flux-adel Recording Division
Is open for business. As they say,
Recording is progress

2merica is as vital as ever
Better late than never
El motto de skorpions!
Pedal hard my darlings
Cuz the devil is on our tail

Too many corporate bands biting
Our sound style idea hope
I ain't mad at this compliment
It's my fave way to cope
These days.

Although i admit no shortage of hope
In town and around the globe
I am watching the former foreign fear peddlers
Spin themselves into an American
Dream turned nightmare for their corporate sponsored
Worker fearing apocalyptic vision of our very beautiful
Present. Tense sense of relief.
And oh yeah we started a bad ass new band.

The Bushes have quietly waved
Goodbye and returned to Texas
and we survived.
God Bless us all, hallelujah!
Only stronger and perhaps
Smarter... yeah right
But at least our new prez
Don't get stage fright
And talks to us like we've actually
Been walking on this earth more than a decade

10 Years Later…

There's something beyond being the base. Perhaps it's the simple math done by moving the decimal. Maybe it's a obvious as the 10 digits hanging at the end of our arms when we are born. Does someone missing a finger work better in nines? Hard to say.

Point being the term "decade" and it's intrigue. When freed from it's VH1 confines of loving the 1st integer and ignoring the rest, a decade can prove to be even more interesting. Did music change more from 1980 to 1990 or 1984-1994? Well, that's difficult..... music talk is for arguing. What about your life? Surely no one's life is tied to 0-9 but it can change dramatically in 10 years.

Perhaps we just like grouping things in ways we can handle. We might live 80 years but 80 is too far out there. Tell me 80 phone numbers from memory. 80 books you've read. 80 stories about your cute and hyper-intelligent kid(s). Even our favorite topics don't usually go 80 deep. Nor would you carry general reviews of each of your 80 years with you. See 1983 was different from 1985 in many ways..... yawn..... ok grandpa.

A decade though? Well even the best of us won't see more than 9 of those. More like 5-6 full of memories for most of us, probably only 1-3 so far amongst my readers. So yeah, grouping things in 10 doesn't bother me in the least, I just ask that you consider sliding your start and end points and seeing what you find. I just found this, written about 10 years ago. Prescient, eh?

Your Daily Forecast

Sometimes it's hard to believe how stupid some people are. I try to stay humble and self-deprecating. I know i'm flawed.

This internet, these blogs, this youtube, these bookmarks are supposed to make us more informed.

More educational materials are available for free now than ever before. But regardless - myths, hype, spin, and falsehoods abound. Ignorance is bliss in this nation of self-servitude and convenience.

Today's item:
Global warming is not affiliated with your daily weather forecast. That is to say, if it's hot out that's not proof that we are all going to burn up. If it's cold out that does not mean that all scientists are morons.

If you study the science, research the evidence, and deduce some reasoned facts you would probably agree with most of the scientists who say man-made global warming is a real and serious problem, if not one that is on a much larger scale than the daily temperature in your neck of the woods.

Scientists and climatologists admit the weather is a amazingly complex issue,
affected locally by all sorts of independent variables. But when crunching the numbers on a macro scale, such localizations disappear and patterns emerge. There is quite the difference between your local forecast and global weather statistical analysis.

If you come with only a political viewpoint, or generally find science and facts to be opposite of your preferred points of reference, then yeah, cold days prove scientists are wrong and global warming doesn't exist. All all the storms and warm days just prove that the end days are near, because we only are getting warmer as a planet overall because god must want it that way.

So, to review:

--airplanes can't fly because metal is heavier than air.
--boats are also much heavier than water so they sink.
--global warming is a crock because it's 5 degrees outside today.

Any other questions? I love America.
